In the last couple of decades, it has become commonplace in urban planning to state that we need more dense urban environments. David Sim, the author of the book "Soft City: Building Density for Everyday", argues, however, that density on its own is not enough. In a good city, the buildings should support a multitude of relationships: between people and place, people and planet, and people and other people. We should build not only denser but also more diverse places that enhance the everyday life of people.

In this webinar, Sim, a longtime Partner and Creative Director in Jan Gehl’s office, discussued his lessons from the office, soft city principles, and life and challenges after Covid-19.
