Health technology is a rapidly evolving and growing field that combines healthcare, technology, and regulation. The emergence of innovations, their productization and commercialization, and the safe use of products all require diverse expertise from multiple disciplines. The sector is strategically highly significant for Finland, both in terms of the economy, innovation capacity, and the development of the healthcare system.
Developing the health technology sector requires new, cross-disciplinary expertise combining health sciences, medicine, technology, business, and law. Without sufficient competence in product development, implementation, and regulation, the benefits of health technology solutions can easily remain underutilized, preventing their full potential from being realized in social and healthcare services or in international markets.
Aalto EE offers free training on health technology competence needs. The training supports product development, the adoption and utilization of technology, familiarity with industry legislation and standards, and the development of commercialization and export expertise. The training packages are designed to be completed flexibly alongside work.
Courses
Health Technology Product Development
A program for health technology professionals looking to deepen their expertise in product development, regulatory strategy, and the comprehensive planning of health technology projects. The program provides tools for aligning clinical effectiveness, regulatory strategy, data management, and user-centered processes, so that health technology products can be successfully commercialized and brought to international markets.
Health Technology Implementation and Utilization
A program for professionals in health technology as well as in social and healthcare services who are responsible for the implementation of health technology, its management, or the related risk management within their own organization. The program provides a practical, comprehensive overview of how to carry out technology implementation in a controlled manner within a social and healthcare organization: from defining needs and procurement decisions to change management and staff engagement, as well as ensuring data security and managing risk throughout the entire lifecycle.
Legislation and Standards
A program for health technology professionals working in medical device regulation who want to strengthen their expertise in the MDR regulatory framework, documentation requirements, and post-market obligations. The program provides a practical, comprehensive overview of how organizations ensure the compliance of their devices and manage regulatory obligations, from design to technical documentation, risk classification, clinical evaluation, and post-market surveillance.
Health Technology Commercialization and Export Expertise
A program for health technology professionals who want to strengthen their expertise in international commercialization, market analysis, and strategic export planning. The program provides a practical, comprehensive overview of how health technology companies build an effective commercialization strategy and expand into international markets: from analyzing target markets and reimbursement systems to value-based pricing, sales channel selection, and accounting for export regulations and financing options.
Completing the program
The courses are designed to be completed alongside work. They include online lectures led by trainers and industry representatives, as well as various exercises and assignments. Recorded lectures let you participate in the program flexibly, at times that suit your schedule.
All courses are free of charge for participants.
Upon completing the program, you will receive a certificate demonstrating your up-to-date expertise. The program must be completed by June 30, 2027.
Who are the courses for?
These courses are designed for professionals in health technology, as well as in social and healthcare services, who work in product development, implementation, regulation, or commercialization. The free courses are also open to anyone with an interest in the topic, including those currently outside the workforce. Participants must reside in Finland.
The training has been funded by the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE). The Service Centre promotes the competence development of working-age people and the availability of skilled labour. The operations of the Service Centre are overseen by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
