Johtaminen terveydenhuollossa
Develop Your Leadership Skills for Strategic Change in Healthcare
The Johtaminen terveydenhuollossa program (Healthcare Management Education Program) is a comprehensive training program on health care change and leadership for managers, supervisors, and decision-makers. The program equips you for broad and strategic leadership roles and supports you to succeed in demanding change situations.
Health care is changing and is under pressure from economic reforms, scientific and technological developments, and the emergence of new players. It is required to adapt to more cost-effective ways of working, ensuring the effectiveness of decisions and interventions at individual, organisational, and population levels. These changes will challenge the leaders of the sector and their management skills. How can leaders under pressure succeed in their leadership role? How can they simultaneously take advantage of the ongoing transformation of health care and the opportunities it offers for development?
The Johtaminen terveydenhuollossa program answers these questions and more, drawing on Aalto University's multidisciplinary expertise and approach. The training is designed and continuously developed in collaboration with experts from the business and manufacturing economy and the health and social care sector. It combines research and practical application seamlessly, providing a comprehensive and impactful learning experience.
The program's content is designed with the Finnish Medical Association Duodecim medical expert group.
After completing the program, participants can continue with Aalto EE's Health MBA or Executive MBA program.
Please note that this program is held in Finnish.

Content and Schedule
The latest theme of the program is the interface between social care and health care management. Established themes include strategic management, management accounting, service production economics, impact-based development, and knowledge management. Other themes include evaluation of health care methods, public administration, and governance. A cross-cutting theme will be managing expert organisations in change, change communication, personal leadership skills, and growing as a leader.
The program includes seven teaching sessions. In addition to the face-to-face sessions, the programme consists of written pre- and post-assignments, a reading list to deepen your learning, and two self-paced online courses.
Each of the content topics is addressed in a practical way using theoretical frameworks and thinking models. This will be deepened through a network of social and health experts and program participants. Each participant's background and insights will enable learning to be promoted and impacted.
