Content and Schedule
Foundations of AI and Data is a one-day (09:00–16:00), instructor-led live online program. The program is organized twice a year.
The program combines conceptual learning with practical application, using a mix of expert-led instruction, real-world examples, and guided reflection. In addition to technical insights, the program emphasizes critical thinking and data literacy, helping you to understand how data quality, evaluation metrics, and basic statistical concepts influence the effectiveness and trustworthiness of AI solutions. You will engage with other participants through case-based discussions, illustrative examples, and interactive exercises that help them connect theoretical concepts to everyday challenges in AI and data use to build a solid conceptual base for working with or evaluating AI-driven technologies, regardless of prior technical experience.

Antti Ukkonen
Antti Ukkonen is an Adjunct Professor ("Docent") at the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki.
Ukkonen is a computer scientist and educator with 20+ years of R&D experience across both the private and public sectors. He has worked as the Chief Product Officer at Speechly, a venture-funded startup acquired by Roblox Inc. in September 2023; as an Academy Research Fellow at the University of Helsinki; at the Finnish Institute for Occupational Health; at Aalto University; and at Yahoo! Research.
Ukkonen holds a doctoral degree from Aalto University (2008).
