Corporate Venturing: Driving Growth and Innovation through Corporate-Startup Collaboration
With the rapid evolution of technology, innovation, and ongoing disruptions in the industry, corporations face significant challenges ahead, but they also have opportunities for renewal and new growth. Often, disruptive innovations arise from venture capital-backed startups, so corporations need a model for collaborating with them to create win-win partnerships. As a result, corporations must move faster than ever before and require a versatile corporate venturing toolkit to capitalize on these opportunities. Depending on the situation and objectives, corporations need to master various corporate venturing modes, including corporate venture capital (CVC), venture building, venture clienting, and startup acquisitions, to drive innovation and generate new growth. While such collaborations have always existed, they have been cyclical, and the corporate venturing toolkit that corporations use has changed and expanded dramatically.
This seminar aims to introduce the modern corporate venturing toolkit and discuss how participants can master it to meet the diverse strategic needs of their corporations. Additionally, during the seminar we will explore the development of the capabilities necessary for the next generation of corporate venturing. The seminar combines the latest scholarly research on corporate venturing with practical examples from companies, including Nokia Ventures and others.
