This online course provides a comprehensive overview of how side streams and waste flows generated in mining operations can be utilized as part of the circular economy. Participants gain an understanding of relevant technologies, data-driven solutions, and regulatory frameworks related to the safe, compliant, and economically viable use of mining by-products.
The course covers the analysis, processing, and utilization of side streams, including material flows, sensor-based sorting, modeling, and visualization. Regulatory and safety perspectives at both national and EU level are addressed, alongside practical examples from mining and construction sector contexts. The programme supports participants in identifying utilization opportunities throughout different phases of mine planning and operations.
The course consists of live online lectures that are recorded for later viewing, keynote presentations, practical exercises, and a project work. Studies can be completed flexibly alongside work. The course is free of charge for participants.
This program is in Finnish only. Participants must live in Finland.
