The Diploma in Global Logistics program is suitable for those seeking comprehensive and in-depth professional development opportunities in logistics. The program is designed to address the changing educational and skill requirements of the logistics and freight forwarding industries, ensuring the content's relevance and applicability. In addition to the program's core modules, you get to choose elective studies from Aalto University giving you the flexibility to tailor the program to your professional interests and needs.

The extent of the program is 24 ECTS, and you can choose to complete it in 1 or 1.5 years. The language of the program is English.

The fee for the Diploma in Global Logistics program is € 5,900 (+ VAT).
The fee for members of the Finnish Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association (FIFFLA) is € 5,000 (+ VAT).
For this program, an employee of a FIFFLA member company participating in the program can apply for a scholarship from Suomen Huolintaliukiden Tuki ry, which covers 50 percent of the price of the training (VAT 0%). The scholarship application must be submitted to the association's office before starting studies.

Contents and Schedule

Analytical Exercises

This study module consists of:
- Independently viewed pre-recorded video lectures,
- three tutorial sessions (duration 1.5 hours each), and
- three individual assignments to be submitted.
The tutoring sessions are held at Aalto University premises (you can also attend online). To prepare for the sessions, you are expected to familiarize yourself with the pre-material (video recordings). The topics cover linear programming and related methods. The knowledge acquired will be demonstrated through individual assignments, which will be assessed, and feedback will be provided.
The main topics of the study module are:

Future of Freight

The module consists of the following elements:
- 1-day seminar event
- 3 business case exercises and 3 related debriefing sessions.
The seminar will showcase academic and industry speakers’ keynote presentations and roundtables on current topics in the industry. The seminar's themes include sustainability, digitalization, and analytics. Participation in the seminar day is mandatory, and module participants must write a reflective learning diary based on their participation.
Buring the business case exercises, participants will delve into three case studies that they will analyze independently in groups, submitting a written report for each. The work will be supported by selected articles. Debriefing sessions will follow the casework, during which discussions about the conclusions will take place within the groups. These debriefing sessions will last approximately 2 hours per case study.
The seminar will be held at Aalto University premises in the spring of 2026. The business case exercises and debriefing sessions will take place between March and April 2026. A more detailed schedule will be published later.
Project Work

Participants will execute a guided development project for their organization completed over 5 months.
The project work is intended to serve your professional development and also to help bring your learnings to your own work and organization, and as such it should be used to raise questions and present analysis and solutions to current issues within your own organization based on understanding and skills you have developed during the diploma studies. The output of the project work is a written report.
The project work can be completed as an individual assignment or as a group work (group of maximum 3 participants). The group work option is meant for individuals from the same organization.

As a mandatory part of the program, students will select two elective courses from Aalto University's course offerings. In these modules, you will be studying together with other logistics experts and Aalto University degree students. The specific dates and course details will be informed in the spring of 2025. Elective Modules
Two elective courses from Aalto University’s degree offerings are included in this program, allowing you to tailor the program to your and your organization's needs and interests. Completing the courses requires a separate non-degree study right, which will be applied for as soon as the training begins. Elective courses will be selected a few weeks before the start of the training. The specific dates of course implementations will be provided in the Spring of 2025.
The course topics include the triple bottom line in the supply chain context, benefits of sustainability in supply chains, environmental issues in purchasing and supply, sustainability in logistics, social sustainability in supply chains, sustainability certification, and implementation issues. Both organization and industry perspectives are discussed in the course.
This course offers flexible participation in the form of online lectures and/or recordings.
This course provides students with core concepts and analytical tools to improve an organization's operational decision-making. The covered topics include inventory optimization and performance metrics as well as supply chain and logistics design.
Please note that compared to other elective courses, this course is highly quantitative and has certain prerequisites you can read more about on the course page. These skills include e.g. basics of linear algebra, multivariate functions, probability and random variables, regression models, and linear optimization. Experience with a programming language such as R or Python will also be useful.
This course requires on-site participation at the Aalto University campus, Espoo.
The main concepts and topics of the course include definitions of quality and performance management, total quality management, lean, Six Sigma, statistical process control, and different quality certificates. Those who pass the course will also receive Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.

The main concepts and topics of the course include definitions of logistic supply chains and other key concepts, logistics applications, distribution networks and structures, transport and transport modes, warehouses and warehouse operations, logistics services and logistics service providers, delivery operations, and transport & trade documents and forwarding.
This course offers flexible participation in the form of online lectures and/or recordings.
The main topics of the course are supply chain integration and coordination as well as collaboration models. This will cover the value of information, supply chain optimization, flexibility principles, contracting, and incentive alignment.
