Aalto EE invites alumni to visit the Kemira Innovation Center on Thursday, September 10, and learn how AI is being used to advance innovation in water treatment and fiber-based solutions.
The visit includes:
- Case example: AI-driven material innovation aimed at removing "forever chemicals" from water
Speaker: Salla Puupponen, Principal Scientist, Discovery & Innovation, Kemira
Kemira launched a collaboration with Cusp.AI, a Cambridge-based artificial intelligence-focused materials science company, to explore the use of AI and computational chemistry in Kemira's water applications. The project investigated the use of metal-organic frameworks for removing "forever chemicals" from water.

Kemira's new Innovation Center, located in Finnoo, Espoo, at the heart of EriCa Green Chemistry Park, brings together over 150 experts developing renewable solutions for water treatment and fiber-based industries. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to learn about Kemira's research and innovation activities, the needs of different customer segments, and the design and construction project of our new laboratory facilities.
