Malo’s key areas of expertise are machine learning and artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation, semantic information retrieval, statistical natural language processing, and multiobjective optimization.

Pekka Malo has a Ph.D. in Economics from Aalto University School of Business 2007. In addition, he holds a Master's Degree in Mathematics from University of Helsinki and a Master's Degree in Finance from Aalto School of Business.
